Trainer Saab Hasan is thanking his lucky stars after a sickening trackwork accident saw him rushed to hospital on Tuesday.

Hasan was taken to Royal Melbourne Hospital, where doctors diagnosed him with concussion and a broken collarbone.

But Hasan knows it could have been much worse.

“I was riding trackwork and both my irons snapped. I tried to pull the horse up, but through just sheer exhaustion I collapsed and landed on the left side of my face and shoulder,” Hasan said.

“That’s the last I remember. I had two seizures while I was out, and that’s all I remember.

“We all know the dangers of the sport.”

Hasan said he was “holding up okay” following the accident.

“I’ve got good support,” he said.

Hasan said he was already plotting his return to work, but admitted it would be some months before he was cleared.

“Give up never won a race,” he said..
